Barrie Downtown Community Theatre: Under The Knife Part XXIV

Post Surgery Update

Auguest, 15, 2011

I finally got to take a sneak peak inside the Downtown Community Theatre for the first time.  The bulk of the surgery is complete.  The painters are making the finishing touches as I toured around the building.  The building will officially open on September 10, 2011 if everything goes according to plan.

The seats all fold into the walls.  Various theatre companies can configure the seating to how they would like it.

The dressing rooms have their own washroom and showers for the actors.  Before the Grand Opening, these rooms will be furnished.

The Backstage Staircase.  Actors can easily get from their dressing rooms to stage level smoothly.

The roll-up door will be painted a dark gray to match all the rest of the building's colour scheme.  The colour scheme is a combination of black, olive green, and dark grey.

There is tones of more work to be done on the Downtown Community Theatre before the offical opening on September 10, 2011.  Furniture has to be installed in the dressing rooms, offices, etc.

Keep your ears to the tracks for the Grand Opening of the Mady Centre for the Performing Arts.

Moose Man, 2011: The Early Morning Express Home

Monday, Aug 1, 2011, The Early Morning Express

Too Bad So Sad,  Everything must come to an end.  This is the shortest day on the campsite of the Moose Man, 2011.  I woke up at 7:30 AM and quickly pack down camp and hop into the car.

At 8: 25 AM, It was time to get into the car and out the gate in a flash.  Driving down Haliburton Lake Road Towards Fort Irwin

By 8:30 AM we were passing throught the village of Fort Irwin and than onto Eagle Lake

Passing through many twists and turns, and Eagle Lake and Sir Sam's Ski hill can be seen in the distance.

Driving along the north side of Eagle Lake.

Approaching the village of Eagle Lake.

Passing Grass lake on the 118.

Approaching the village of Carnarvon and Jct 35.

Now Leaving Carnarvon.

Bracebridge Town Centre, 31 KM.  When I was travelling the streets of Muskoka, I thought Bracebridge had a mall called Bracebridge Town Centre.  This sign is actually stating that Downtown Bracebridge is 3! KM.

Driving over the Black River Bridge on 118.

The Clear Lake General Store.  This is not too far from a cottage on Wood Lake I went to as a child.

By 9:25 AM We finally arrived at Hwy 11.  The Final stretch of this Early Morning Express Home.

Crossing Hwy 11.

After hitting the highway. I spotted this green school bus.

Approaching the Gull Lake Bridge on Hwy 11, southbound.

Crossing The Gull Lake Bridge on Hwy 11, soutbound

By 10:30 AM, I arrived at my front door and the Moose Man Weekend has came to a close.

Why does Early Morning Express Rides home Suck?

Early morning express ride home sucks because I arrive home at a very early hour in the morning.  The earlieset Express Ride home was at 6:30 AM and for a 7:00 AM arrival at home.  The avarage Express ride home was between 7:30 - 8:30 AM.

Early Morning Express Rides home suck if you do not have to be at home right away and you want to spend more time at the event you were at.  It would really suck if I had to leave OM on Sunday morning at 7:30 because the party is still going and the dance floor is rocking.

The Moose Man 2011. The Burn

Sunday July 30th, 2011, Let's Burn that Moose!

The house band plays more exciting Elevator Music while everyone gathers at the Rites of Passage Theatre for the Pre Burn Soree.

Performers included clowns, fire spinners, and comedy until the Moose gets torched.

The Electric Violinist played some music for the Fire Spiners.

Fire Spinners took the stage for a 10 minute showcase of Fire.

Following the Fire Spinning Show, the moose is torched.

The Moose has collapsed within 10 minutes after it was torched.  This picture was taken in Out of Bounds Skate Park.  The Skate Park was a paramiter to keep people away from the blazing fire.

A torch bearer carries the flame of hope to the Rites of Passage Theatre from the Moose Fire.

The Rites of Passage Theatre is now set a blaze.

A Structure Fire is now underway at the Rites of Passage Theatre.  Call in the Fire Department.

The Rites of Passage Theatre collapsed on itself and nobody got hurt.  The Fire was kept contained to its original square.

Following the Burn,  A fire spinning jam took place into the night.  People took turns in jumping a flaming skipping rope.  Lightnig lit up the night sky as the flames went down.

By midnight, the Moose is now a pile of hot coles.  From Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, Another Mooseman Festival has came and went.

Keep your Ears to the Tracks for some great pictures of the highways of the Early Morning Express Home.
