Today, May 24, 2013 marks the 5th anniversary of my fifth Viewing of Evil Dead the Muscial at the Diesel Playhouse. On this Day, I sat in Splatter Zone 2 B, Seat #5.
Mr Creepy holds onto my Evil Dead Ticket unitl it's time to board the bus to the Diesel Playhouse
The Journey To Evil Dead the Musical
Let's take a moment to watch this short film. This film will take you in my footsteps from the Barrie Transit Terminal to the Diesel Playhouse onboard a Greyhound Bus.
The Tour of The Diesel Playhouse Bar
Now let's take a tour of the upper level of the Diesel Playhouse. This is what the Diesel Playhouse looked like back on the 24th of May of 2008. This tour was filmed with the Shakes of Excitement.
The Bar is where food, drink and popcorn can be purchased before the show. We will remember these great memories of the Diesel Playhouse.
This is the post show Splatter Result after Evil Dead the Musical Viewing #10.
This is what the Diesel Playhouse looks Like on October 29, 2012. In this entry, I get a glimpse of the Diesel Playhouse Administration office and the Front of House.
Approaching The Diesel Playhouse from King Street West.
A Closer View of the Diesel Playhouse. A fence was built around the perimeter of the Building.
The Large bay window was filled in with cinder blocks. If you remember, The Red DIESELSign stuck out of the center of this window.
Large beams were inserted in the base of the building. The front of house is being preped to be moved onto the sidwalk.
The Diesel Playhouse Main Space and Caberet Spaces were demolished.
This is the first and last glimpse of what the Diesel Playhouse looks like from the inside.
The Elevator Shaft is still in tact.
Looking down stage centre towards the Front of House. The First floor housed Jeff Healey's Roadhouse and the Diesel Playhouse Box Office. I went there to pick up my tickets when I watched Evil Dead for the last 5 times. It was cheaper to purchase my tickets at the box office.
The Second Floor housed the DIESEL PLAYHOUSE Administartion offices. The Third floor was the Front of House, Bar, The Main Space, and Caberet Space

What does the Diesel Playhouse look like as of April 15, 2013

The Diesel Playhouse from King Street West.
The Theatre has been demolished to make way for an ugly Condo Tower
The Front of House has been moved onto the sidewalk of Blue Jays Way.
One lane has been blocked because the Front of House had to be moved onto the sidewalk. The Front of House is being preserved because it is a heritage building. Lot of other heritage buildings were knocked down and the frontage was preserved.

An Ugly hole gapes in the back of house of the Diesel Playhouse.

Rumble Strips in South Korea are designed differnt compared to the ones in Ontario, Canada
These rumble strips are located on the Yeongdong Expressway. These rumble strips are a bunch of grooves engraved into pavement. When you hit these rumble strips they make a high pitch tone.
If you remember my past post, The Tunnels I been through. The last time I was in a long tunnel was back in 1993 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 70 / 76). On January 29th, 2013, I got to take a trip of a lifetime to Pyeongchang South Korea for the Special Olympics World Winter Games. The The main highway (Expressway 50) that passes through Pyeongchang has 13 tunnels. I was fortunate to travel through all 13 tunnels while I was in South Korea.
Picture pulled from from Google Maps, Streetview.
This is the first tunnel I been through in the daytime on the Yeongdong Expressway (Expressway 50). This tunnel is located aproxmently 3 kilometers east of Expressway 1.
The portal of this tunnel is angled with the hillside.
The bus inside the tunnel. It's like riding on the subway
After exiting the tunnel, Let there be snow! Taking a look at the east portal of the westbound lanes.
The Tunnel Wall.
Approaching another tunnel around the bend
Apporaching the tunnel.
A secondary road crosses the highway above this tunnel portal
The westbound lanes are at a higher elevation while approaching this tunnel. On this bus ride between Asan and Pyeongchang, I traveled through 7 tunnels on Expressway 50.
This wall is plain concrete and no fancy tile work. This is one of the short tunnels on the Yeongdong Expressway.
This tunnel wall's tile work has a gray scale.
This tunnel's approach has cement arches that allows natural light.
Tunnel Wall, The Light at the end of the tunnel!
Many tunnel portals are angled with the hillside
A solid poured cement tunnel arch.
Many of these pictures of the tunnels were taken out a foggy bus window.
This tunnel is located approximately 1 kilometer west of Expressway 171 or 3 Kilometers west of Expressway 1 on the Yeongdong Expressway (Expressway 50). I passed through this tunnel enroute to the airport on February 6, 2013.
That's enough pictures of tunnels. Keep your ears to the tracks. I will have another post about Tunnels.
BUD stands for Big Ugly Dish. In 1990, My grandfather decided to get a BUD because there is more TV channels to watch between G1 - G5 on the C-Band.
Where did We order the BUD
My grandfather ordered our satellite dish through the Stereo Den in Newmarket, Ontario. The Stereo Den was our satellite dealer that my grandfather bought the receiver, the codes, and the dish.
The Channels
When you get a satellite dish, you will have to subscribe to many channels. There are some channels that are free to watch with audio. Some channels scrambled and not available. Most of the channels that everyone enjoys are known as subscription channels. If you watch a subscription channel, there may not be any audio. In order to activate the audio, you have to punch in a code that is 10 - 20 characters long.
Movies
The BUD Had so many movie channels ranging from Showtime to Cinemax. There were great movies to watch from Comedy to Horror. I saw many movies like Bad Dreams, Total Recall, Little Monsters, and more. I will tell you more movie memories on another page.
A jump scare in an unknown wedding movie, 1989 - 1990
This movie features a wedding ceremony in a church. In the scene, you will see the bride walk down the aisle. The camera will pan and show her face which is gory followed by a scram and a jump cut to a man screaming in bed realizing it was a nightmare. I searched the IMDB and Google and cannot find the title.
Total Recall,1990
I saw this movie for the first time in January / Febuary 1991 on Viewer's Choice Pay Per View (G 3 channel 16). What grabbed my attention when I was flipping channels one afternoon, was a car chase scene through a tunnel.
This is the scariest moment in Total Recall
The Implant Lab scene frightened me when I saw it for the first time because of the lights the flashing lights and the sounds of sparking by Quaid's ears during the Implant procedure. I continued to watch the movie and got frightened again when Benny attempts to grind Quaid with a tunnel mole machine. A moment later, I said I did not like the move and switched the channel. Since than, I was afraid to look at the video cover.
Cartoons
One of my favorite cartoon / kids channel I fell in love was Nickelodeon. I saw cartoons like Heathcliff, Maya The Bee, Loony Tunes, Yogi Bear, and more. Please keep your ears to the tracks for a special posting for Memories of Nick.
Family Channel
The Family Channel was a great channel that featured cartoons during Fun Town. Fun Town was a block that is devoted to cartoons including The Super Mario Brothers Super Show, Heroes on Hot Wheels, Captain N, and more. Other great shows that I saw were Rin Tin Tin, K9 Cop, and Zorro.
Captain N, The Game Master
One of my favorite "Captain N" episodes I looked forward to watching was The Most Dangerous Game Master. I was inspired to coin the term to get sparked up after watching the Frankenstein like scene.
In the August 1992, The sound to the Family Channel was switched off because the subscription ran out.
In September 1992, The Sci Fi Channel was launched and graced my TV Screen for a year and a half. There were many great memories from the Cartoon Quest to Classic Monsters Month. I watched Frankenstein for the first time.
