Evil Dead the Musical Viewing 13

On December 22, 2013 the Big Smoke took a serious hit by a major ice storm, knocking out power to thousands of homes.  This is my story.

December 21, 2013,

A view of the city before the sun sets.

The city after dark.

Through the night there were flashes of blue and pink.  Suddenly, the power was switched off.  People were in the dark for days.

Sunday, December 22, 2013

The transformer exploded sometime in the morning .  There was a large flash and bang.

The trees, power lines, and this No parking sign was coated in ice.

The Traffic lights were out.

This bus shelter was coated in ice too.  A car drove by and a large sheet of ice flew off  the roof.

Evil Dead The Musical Viewing Lucky 13

The Cartoons have a few words to say about the show.

The Randolph Theatre is located inside an old church.  Audience members entered the church through the bell tower.

Rain ponchos can be purchased at the merchandise booth inside the Narthax of the Randolph Theatre.  Rain Gear is a must if you sit in the splatter zone.

After Braving the Ice Storm,  This was the result of splattering #12.  I was in Row D Seat 24.  at Intermission, I was lucky to move up to Row B Seat #13 and got fully bathed in Deadite Blood.

Theatre By the bay, 2013 Now comes to a close

Happy Closing of Theatre By The Bay 2013.

The largest fire happened on August, 31, 2013 in Black Rock Desert, Nevada

Theatre By the Bay had a great 2013 Season.  After a sold out closing show of Crazy For You at the Mady Centre for the Performing Arts, I would be very happy that everyone had the most fun in the theatre ever.  On the day of the Burn, William Shakespeare, Kemp, and Burbage had their final Robert Munsch Reading.   At high noon, the sets were dismantled and returned to storage for safe keeping.  by 4 PM the Mady Centre was totally cleaned out for the next show.  At midnight, the man in Black Rock, Neveda burned to mark the close of another great season of Theatre By The Bay.

Happy Opening! Crazy For You

Opening Night Festivites

Crazy For Yow was an exciting show.  There was tap dancing, percussion, and much more.  The radio said that you will have the most fun in the theatre ever watching Crazy For You.  I had lots of Fun in the theatre at Opening Night.  I was very lucky to go out for dinner prior to the performance.

The Dinner and Theatre Trip

The day started at 1 PM with a drive down the highway towards the Big Smoke in a Mustang for an early dinner on a patio.

What was the restaurant like?

Fortunately, I did not eat at a regular restaurant in the Theatre Distrct in the heart of the city.  the restaurant was a back yard patio in Etobicoke.  Prior to dinner, I hung out with great people like Zaria, Ramine, Irving, Tiph.  The meal was coleslaw, rice, meat, fish, vegetables, and plantain.  For dessert I had a pie and an ice cream bar.  Following dinner, there was some time for some more talking and hugs before it's time to go to the performance.

A hug with Zaria prior to departure for the Mady Centre.

At 5:20 PM, it was time to say good bye and get in the Mustang for a direct trip to the Mady Centre for the Performing Arts.  The Mustang traveled at a cruising speed of 120 KM per hour for an early arrival at the Mady Centre.

Irving, Phil, and Tiph.

Show Time!

I volunteered with Theatre By the Bay handing out the programs to the audience members as they enter the theatre prior to the performance.   The show was lots of fun.  The actors did a great job in their opening night performance.  These actors were able to pick up a musical instrument and play it.  Following the performanc, there was a reception and where I got to meet the actors from the show.  My friend Micheal Rawley made the trip up to see the show.  I was lucky  If you like to join in the fun, the ticket information is below.

The Tour of The Diesel Playhouse Bar

Now let's take a tour of the upper level of the Diesel Playhouse.  This is what the Diesel Playhouse looked like back on the 24th of May of 2008.  This tour was filmed with the Shakes of Excitement.

The Bar is where food, drink and popcorn can be purchased before the show.  We will remember these great memories of the Diesel Playhouse.

The Diesel Playhouse, October 29, 2012 Update

This is what the Diesel Playhouse looks Like on October 29, 2012.   In this entry, I get a glimpse of the Diesel Playhouse Administration office and the Front of House.

Approaching The Diesel Playhouse from King Street West.

A Closer View of the Diesel Playhouse.  A fence was built around the perimeter of the Building.

The Large bay window was filled in with cinder blocks.  If you remember, The Red DIESEL Sign stuck out of the center of this window.

Large beams were inserted in the base of the building.  The front of house is being preped to be moved onto the sidwalk.

The Diesel Playhouse Main Space and Caberet Spaces were demolished.

This is the first and last glimpse of what the Diesel Playhouse looks like from the inside.

The Elevator Shaft is still in tact.

Looking down stage centre towards the Front of House.  The First floor housed Jeff Healey's Roadhouse and the Diesel Playhouse Box Office.  I went there to pick up my tickets when I watched Evil Dead for the last 5 times.  It was cheaper to purchase my tickets at the box office.

The Second Floor housed the DIESEL PLAYHOUSE Administartion offices.  The Third floor was the Front of House, Bar, The Main Space, and Caberet Space

Looking Westward on Mercer Street towards the Blue Jays Way.
