Boreal 2011, The Tempest: Closing Night Celebrations

Saturday afternoon is wonderful to take a dip in the waters before Theatre By the Bay's Closing Night of the Tempest

Around 2  - 2:30 PM, The DJs get together and help carry all the sound equipment from the ship to the mouth of Prospero's Cell.

Looking down towards the water from the mouth o' the cell.

The Dancefloor before Prospero's Cell is now hopping.  Everyone is hyped to celebrate the run of Theatre By the Bay's production of the Tempest.

At 9:00 PM Ariel appears in the form of the Nymph of the Sea on the dance floor.  In the Meantime, Trinculo and Stephano are in the process of taming Caliban.

The sunset over the isle.  At this time, Ferdinand and Miranda just had their first kiss and the Intermission is underway.

Someone fetching some firewood.  A fire was built before the mouth o' the cell.  This job belongs to Ferdinand, the patient log man.

Slava hits the decks during Intermission, Act 3 Scene 2 - Act 4.

Some Ghosts appear before Prospero's Cell.

At the top of Act 3 Scene 2, Danny Depoe plays a jig on the trumpet.

During Act 3, Scene 3, Ariel appeared in Harpy form and the music fell silent while she said the following;

You are three men of sin, whom Destiny,
    That hath to instrument this lower world
    And what is in't, the never-surfeited sea
    Hath caused to belch up you; and on this island
    Where man doth not inhabit; you 'mongst men
    Being most unfit to live. I have made you mad;
    And even with such-like valour men hang and drown
    Their proper selves.

    You fools! I and my fellows
    Are ministers of Fate: the elements,
    Of whom your swords are temper'd, may as well
    Wound the loud winds, or with bemock'd-at stabs
    Kill the still-closing waters, as diminish
    One dowle that's in my plume: my fellow-ministers
    Are like invulnerable. If you could hurt,
    Your swords are now too massy for your strengths
    And will not be uplifted. But remember--
    For that's my business to you--that you three
    From Milan did supplant good Prospero;
    Exposed unto the sea, which hath requit it,
    Him and his innocent child: for which foul deed
    The powers, delaying, not forgetting, have
    Incensed the seas and shores, yea, all the creatures,
    Against your peace. Thee of thy son, Alonso,
    They have bereft; and do pronounce by me:
    Lingering perdition, worse than any death
    Can be at once, shall step by step attend
    You and your ways; whose wraths to guard you from--
    Which here, in this most desolate isle, else falls
    Upon your heads--is nothing but heart-sorrow
    And a clear life ensuing." (The Tempest, W Shakespere)

During Act 4, Candles were lit before Prospero's cell in honour of Iris, Ceres, and Juno.

The Trees were lit with majestic colour to honour the spirits of Act 4.

Once the spirits faded into the fabric, trees, and the air. Prospero delivered the following message.

"You do look, my son, in a moved sort,
    As if you were dismay'd: be cheerful, sir.
    Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
    As I foretold you, were all spirits and
    Are melted into air, into thin air:
    And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
    The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
    The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
    Ye all which it inherit, shall dissolve
    And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
    Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
    As dreams are made on, and our little life
    Is rounded with a sleep. Sir, I am vex'd;
    Bear with my weakness; my, brain is troubled:
    Be not disturb'd with my infirmity:
    If you be pleased, retire into my cell
    And there repose: a turn or two I'll walk,
    To still my beating mind." (The Tempest, William Shakespeare)

 At 10:35 PM the cast of the Tempest took their final bows and bid farewell to the Tempest.  The party continued into the night before Prospero's Cell.
